❓What is the Soul Science Lab Digital Summer Camp?

The Digital Summer Camp is a one-week immersive, virtual experience for young creators aged 12–14. Through music, beat making, and storytelling, students will develop creative skills, build confidence, and learn how to express themselves using digital tools.

🗓️ When does the camp take place?

The camp runs from July 14–18, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM EST. Dates for each session will be provided upon registration.

💻 Where is the camp held?

This is a fully virtual camp, with live Zoom sessions and creative lab time. All you need is a device with internet access and a quiet place to work!

💵 How much does the camp cost?

The total cost is $550 per student.

✅ What happens after I pay the camp fee?

Once the payment is complete, you’ll receive a formal welcome email with a detailed sign-up packet, including schedules, tech setup instructions, and all the information and tools needed to get set up for a successful week.

🎧 What equipment do I need?

Students will need:

• A computer or tablet with internet access

• Headphones (required)

• Access to Soundtrap (a free, online music production tool)

Optional but helpful:

• A MIDI keyboard controller

• A condenser microphone for better audio quality

• An audio interface (such as Focusrite or PreSonus) for improved sound quality

🎵 What will students learn?

Campers will explore:

• Music appreciation and digital instruments

• Beat making using tools like Soundtrap and BandLab

• Songwriting and lyrical storytelling

• Basic home recording techniques

• Performance skills — even for virtual stages!

🎤 Will there be a final performance?

Yes! At the end of the week, students will showcase their original songs (solo or collaborative) in a live Zoom concert open to family, friends, and invited guests.

🏅 Will students receive anything after the camp?

Each student will receive:

• A Certificate of Completion

• A copy of the official camp playlist featuring all camper-created songs

👥 Who leads the camp?

The camp is facilitated by Soul Science Lab, led by award-winning educators and artists Chen Lo and Asante Amin, known for their innovative approach to music, education, and culture.

🌍 Can students attend from outside the U.S.?

Yes! As long as they can participate during the camp’s scheduled hours (10:00 AM – 2:00 PM EST), international students are welcome.

💳 What’s the refund policy?

Full refunds are available before July 1, 2025. No refunds will be issued after that date.
